American Airlines and the Vasu Raja saga…what’s next for NDC?
To most of the corporate travel and specifically the TMC (Travel Management Company) world, the sudden departure announcement of Vasu Raja, American Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, was not an unexpected ‘shock.’ While a few bloggers openly wondered why he was absent from speaking engagements, given the airline’s revenue and stock price performance vs other US airlines and the degradation of service and set of low-cost carrier route strategies executed by a premium service airline, few were surprised. However, American’s CEO Robert Isom’s follow-up public comments made an impact on how this recent news could be interpreted and they invite us all into a conversation about how to ‘reset’ valuable relationships and re-boot NDC strategy.
